Featherbed Frame1088 viewsThe famous featherbed frame the brainchild of the McCandles Brothers, this is considered the best motorcycle fame ever developed. Two styles were made the "wideline" earlier frame the top tubes were parallel and the later "slimline” version was narrowed at the seat nose, for greater comfort and controllability.

Mystery Frame800 viewsI need your help. This frame has turned up near me and I'm trying to help identify it for the owner.
The story goes something like this; Built in the Norton race shop probably in the late 60's or early 70's. There are no numbers anywhere on the frame. Obviously not designed to use isolastics, but did use a 750 Commando engine. There is a combat motor with this frame but it's probably not the original engine. The Norton factory gave this frame to an American rider whose last name was Crenshaw (he had some Norton race victories in flat tracking or road racing, I really don't know). He spotted it in a corner and when he inquired was told he could have it. There's a strong possibility that Peter Williams had something to do with this frame. Perhaps we could get him to view these photos?
Anyway, I would appreciate any info, leads, speculations and assistance in furthering the identity and history of this interesting frame. Feel free to forward this email to anyone you feel may be able to help.

1966 650 Sport Special539 viewsIntroduced in 1961 on the import market it was painted in polychromatic blue, and called the Manxman, released in the UK the following year it was now finished in more traditional silver and black. The difference between the 650ss and the Model 99 are in the upper part of the engine, and in the carburetors, exhaust pots and in the camshaft.
The electrics were updated to 12v in 1964 and wider fork adapted. The 650ss was finished in 1968 but lived on two more years as the Mercury, a slightly cheaper to produce version of the same machine
