40 viewsThe NCNOC North Bay Ride, led by Jerry Kaplan, was again a fantastic event and if you missed this one you need to re-accesses your priorities. Jerry never fails to lead a great North Bay Ride but this year with a new route and the prefect riding weather it rides was huge fun. A group of early risers met at Jerry’s house then headed off to hook up with some of the locals. Jerry led us 30 odd miles through the back areas of Davis and some great field roads past the Yolo County airfield and across “graffiti” bridge then out into Central Valley farm country. The great thing about farm roads is they are limited access and speed limits are suggestions only! Perfect area to let your Norton breathe that morning air.

Tom Dabel18 viewsWe had a great ride in to Mono Hot Springs, with unusually cool weather in the valley, and clear skies in the mountains. Tom Dabel was Ride Leader. We only had six bikes on this ride, but four were Nortons so that's OK.

17 viewsThe final count for the trip was 8 riders from NorCal and 18 from SoCal. Maybe our members saw the weather coming and theirs didn’t. After some discussion with Bill Bibbiani, we agreed that mid-September is a bit late in the year for this kind of ride. So they have asked to join us for our Dardanelles event next year, mid-August. I reminded all present that the real party will be at Lake Selmac in July, and I got a sense that many SCNOC members will be there.
Thanks to all that joined me on this ride, and congratulations for sharing a great adventure and surviving. This is one I won’t forget!

Norton's natural habitat, twisties!15 viewsTo make up lost time, our ride went straight down I5 to Patterson. All the bikes did great at 75 mph, and once on Del Puerto Canyon, we evened out the tire wear by not going straight at all, for 20 miles. It was a fast and fabulous ride, despite the heat of the day.
